{4}This winter is the rainiest winter I have ever experienced. Since last December the rain has been falling almost unceasingly. The cloudy and weeping sky was a depressing sight to me most of the mornings; still, I had to put on my raincoat and start my motorcycle so that I could report to work on time. The weather bureau said it had registered a record rainfall in eighty years. Eighty years? This is the first time my grandma has seen such a long spell of rain! The farmers are sad, worrying about the stunted rice plants in the rain. The housewives frown at the soaring price of vegetables. Furthermore, if you have a little baby, are sure to get into a lot of trouble. It takes a long time to have the diapers dried--not really dry but still a little damp. Do you want to buy a dryer? Sorry, It’s not available at the shops. The only way around this problem is perhaps to buy many "Pampers." Despite people’s complaining, praying and hoping against hope, the rain has gone on almost without any letup. Everywhere you could hear people say, “It starts to rain again” or “Oh, such lousy weather！” or something like that. Although most people feel bad after such a long period of rain, there are some who are actually happy about this freaky weather. The taxi drivers, for example, have gotten an income thrice as much as what they usually get. The gloomy days have lasted so long that I can hardly remember when last saw the beautiful golden sunshine. One day my three-year-old daughter asked me, “Mama. How come the book tells me the sky is blue, but it is not?” I simply didn’t know how to answer her.

From the sixteenth of January to the seventh of February is our Winter Holiday. I think everybody did a lot of things in the Winter Holiday. But I didn’t. Let you to listen to my story of Winter Holiday.

I spend a lot of time on the homework.. Every day in my Winter Holiday, I always got up late. then I listened to the tape, it was nine o’clock. then I ate breakfast and then I did my homework during the daytime! I’m not very slow but the homework was too heavy!

I’m unlucky on the playing too. I played firecracker but I hurt my finger with the fire. I ‘m careless to kindle the firecracker, so I’m very unlucky.

I still unlucky on my friend’s party. In the morning, I wanted to get up early but I woke up at 10:50. After ten minutes, the party would start! So I only eat a piece of bread then I go to my friend’s home! And I stay at his home for a long time when I came home. My mother and father were very angry and they scolded me!

I’m worried and feel unlucky on my weigh. Last term, I was 48 kilogram but now I am 51 kilogram! I must to do banting!

But most important, I have gone to Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, I want to go there very much because I want to see the horse, the monkey……in the sea. Now I’ve done it . It is a bright dot in my Winter Holiday.

I seem to recall best a journey we made by tram one winter night.

We were going to visit my Granny at Westoe, and I was very excited, because an evening excursion was something quite unheard of for me. It had been raining; the gas lamps lit the gleaming pavements and cobbles with a doubled radiance. The shaking tram wires were sending down showers of white raindrops. Everything in the ram seemed fresh and glittering. The breezy windows sparkled with long zigzags of rain and the passing street lamp flared gorgeously through the panels of blue and yellow and ruby glass. Outside, it was cold and windy, and we could feel the gale buffeting against the side of the tram, making it sway and lurch ore than usual, and throwing the passengers of song, and the fresh, clean, cold sea-wind was blowing right through the upper deck. Above, a high half-moon seemed to be skidding along on its back through piles of black, white-lined rags. It was a wild night, with a sense of magic in the offing. The people in the tram did not like ordinary mortals; a kind of exhilaratinggaietyhadseizedthem,anditseseememed to lighten their bodies and illuminate their faces. At times I was sure we were really flying.
