apples.

M: No. We've got only 30 minutes left.
(Text 4)
M: How about going to the bookstore after work?
W: Sorry, I have to see my uncle. He is in hospital now.
(Text 5)
W: Excuse me. How can I get to the airport?
M: You can go there by underground, by bus or by taxi. The
underground is the quickest, but the bus is the cheapest.
(Text 6)
M: Mom, how did you meet Dad?
W: Well, I was at a dance party and this tall, good-looking guy
was watching me dance.
M: Was that Dad?
W: Un-huh. Finally, he asked me to dance with him. We danced
a few times and then I left and went home. I didn't think
about him after that. But the next day, he called me and sang
to me on the phone. He called me every day for two weeks.
M: He sang to you on the phone? Dad? Wow, how romantic!
W: I didn't think it was romantic. I thought it was strange,
but he did have a beautiful voice. He asked me to go out with
him, but I said "no". Finally, he came over to my house and
started singing under my window. All my neighbors came
outside to see what was happening. I was so embarrassed.
M: So what happened later?
W: Well, he wouldn't stop singing until I went on a date with
him, so I did.
M: And then?
W: We got married.

M: Hi, Francis, I want a new apartment. Are there any near
you?
W: Why do you want another apartment?
M: The man who lives upstairs plays music all night and I can't
fall asleep.
W: What kind of apartment do you want?
M: Not a big one. One bedroom is fine.
W: Do you mind having a roommate?
M: No, I can live with a roommate. Why?
W: My brother wants a roommate. Why don't you phone him?
M: Does he live near the ocean?
W: Yes, he does.
(Text 8)
W: You're not looking very cheerful. What's the matter with
you?
M: Oh, nothing special. I'm just thinking a lot.
W: About the job?
M: About everything, about catching the same train every
television programs...
W: You need a holiday.
M: It wasn't always like this, you know.
W: What do you mean?
M: Well, our great-great-grandfathers had more fun, didn't they?
I mean, they hunted for their food and grew their own
vegetables and did things for themselves. We do the same
sort of job for years and years. There's no variety in our
lives.
W: You need a holiday. That's what’s the matter with you.
(Text 9)
M: You should really visit the Science Museum while you are
here. It's simply wonderful. Have you been there yet?
W: Not yet. We are going there tomorrow afternoon.
M: Well, you'll love it. And have you taken a bus tour? That's
the best way to get to know the city.
W: No, but we hear that it's worth doing.
M: What about Summer Palace? Have you been there yet?
W: Oh, yes. That was lovely. It's one of the most beautiful
parks I've ever been to.
M: And if you are interested in art, you should visit the
National Art Gallery. It has a famous collection of Chinese
paintings.
W: Yes, I've read about that. We should try to get there while
we are here.
M: And don't forget to try some of the local restaurants. The
Beijing Duck is great here.
W: Yes, it certainly is. Last night, we tasted it. Say, would you
like to join us for dinner tonight?
