On the Teachers’ Day, my classmates and I planned to give him a special gift——a smile. So the naughty John pretended to have passed out in the classroom. When Mr. Smith came in, he was so scared that he held John in his arms right away. On the way to the hospital, John burst into laughter suddenly, which made the teacher confused. After we told him that it was only a joke, Mr. Smith laughed too. We were all pleased to see him smiling at last.

長城有二十多個世紀的歷史。它的第一部分是在春秋時期建造的。戰國時期，有更多的城牆被用來保衞不同王國的邊界。正是在秦朝，秦國把帝夫的發福部分統一為一個帝國。為了把敵人趕出他的帝國，秦始皇把所有的城牆連在一起。於是，長城誕生了。

長城的寬度足以讓五匹馬或十個人並排走。沿着牆的是瞭望塔，士兵們常常在那裏守望。當敵人到來時，在塔上點燃了火作為警告。

在古代沒有任何現代機器的情況下，很難建造這樣一堵牆。所有的工作都是手工完成的。成千上萬的人死了，被埋在他們建造的城牆下。長城不僅是由石頭和泥土建成的，而且是幾百萬人的血肉所組成的。

今天，長城不僅對中國人，而且對來自世界各地的人都有興趣。他們中的許多人都知道中國著名的諺語:“沒有到達長城的人不是真正的人。”
